Yamaha CA600 Amplifier

This new arrival is my first Yamaha unit. The build quality is signature 1975 Japan(Nippon Gakki). I love how balanced this integrated amp is. From it's grilled wood cabinet to the ever omnipresent controls, you can see that design was an equally important factor. There is a beautiful warmth to this amp section and at 35watts it's level of performance is quite pleasing. MRSP was $330.00

I know that the Yamaha home theatre equipment of today is well regarded amongst reviewers and there was a real lull in the market for their products through the 80's and 90's but the gear they produced out of Japan in the 70's is true Vintage Sound gear worthy of restoring.

The Yamaha has a tube-like soundstage that is a true representation of the VintageSound that we all strive for! Thanks for your continued visits!

  2. Hi, Nice site and nice pictures. I just completely rebuild a Yamaha CA-600 and fully agree with you about the looks, build quality and the sound. I got this unit in a very bad condition. One channel was broken, the other channel dropped very often and the amplifier was full of dirt. Therefore I deside to strip the amplifier to a bare chassis and build it up again. Every single components was inspected and replaced. Every soldering contact was inspected and, if needed, redone and all the PCB's where cleaned. An intensive job but worth the effort. All capacitors where replaced, every single part was cleaned and the result is an as good ad new Yamaha CA-600. The sound is amazing, ever single detail in the music is adable and the soundstage is huge. There is enough headroom in output power to drive every avarage efficient speaker sufficiently. After finishing the job I will put the amp (together with a Yamaha CT-400 tuner) for sale on my website www.vintageaudiorepair.nl. A detailed photo report of the restauration will be published here too.

    Best regards,

  3. I have one of these i bought in "76". It is in excellent shape, almost looks brand new. Works great!!
I am amazed at the front end on this amp. If you don't interject any noise on the inputs you can turn this amp up all the way and have to put your ear on the speaker to hear any hum.... what other amp can claim that!!!

    1. just out of the blue, a huge hum appeared. I am not clear what it could be. I can pan the hum and manipulate bass and treble. I checked all cables, but all seems fine. I can listen to music from tape, cd, pc, and receiver, but the hum is steadily there. Any advice appreciated.

  4. I have a Yamaha CA 600 from back around 1976 or so. It needs some repair and servicing. Any recommendations on how to find a competent service company? I'm in Houston TX.
